Spring Cleaning Tips for Homeowners

Spring is in the air! For many, that means warmer temperatures, sunshine, and renewed energy to tackle projects. If you are a homeowner, this is the perfect time to work on some of the things that may have gone by the wayside during cold, dark winter months.

Get outside

Warmer temps offer more opportunities to spruce up the exterior of your home. Plant some spring flowers, trim back hedges, and give the lawn a much-needed cut. Many plants have been dormant during the winter months and will be flowering soon.

Don’t forget to give some love to the more prominent features of your home’s actual structure. This includes looking at the roof for loose shingles, windows, screens, and trim to see if any need replacement, and other areas of your home’s exterior that may have been damaged during the winter.

Now is also the time to clean the leaves and debris that may be hanging out in gutters. Springtime is known for rain—it’s not called spring rain for no reason! Make sure that your gutters are unobstructed and in good repair to prevent that water from entering your home and doing damage.

Indoor cleaning

Take advantage of increased enthusiasm to deep clean the interior of your home! Appliances, fixtures, and windows can sparkle like new with the right products and a little elbow grease. Go beyond just the standard wipe down and deep clean with soap and water. If you have high windows, consider hiring a professional team to do a yearly interior and exterior clean.

Following these tips will ensure you can enjoy your beautiful and healthy home all year long. Regular maintenance can also do a lot to prolong the life of everything from appliances to the roof. If you do come across an item in need of replacement, start budgeting for that repair to make sure your home stays in top shape.

Happy Spring, Everybody!
